Challenged by previous misguided remodels, we redesigned a highly segmented interior to create a contemporary and cool residence for a pair of young, first-time home buyers. At the heart of the newly open plan is a custom, large-scale kitchen island designed with friends and a growing family in mind. The kitchen flows easily into both living and dining areas, and the material palette throughout further brightens and modernizes the 50’s era residence.
