To make up for a nearly nonexistent back yard, we terraced this hillside site’s more generous but previously unusable front. Concrete planters echo the home’s simple geometry and also serve as launching pads to a responsibly-sized grass lawn for the owners’ high energy twin girls . The design also defines the home’s main entrance, guiding visitors to the front door while adding a hedge for privacy at street level.
